Audrey has been fascinated by the moon. Earlier this week Sue said she got her stool and pointed up to the sky so she could stand on it and be 6 inches closer to the moon. Tonight Dave and the girls lay in the backyard and enjoyed moon gazing while I was at the gym.
I was glad to be home for stories and bedtime. The girls and I read some new books, including a book entirely in German about an owl stealing an alarm clock. I don't know anything in German except how to count to ten, gesundheit and Auf Wiedersehen so I just made the story up. One part of the story cracked Zoey up. Her laughter was so joyful I kept the joke going.
They both take a side when we read and this night was like others. Tonight Audrey was on my right and to the right if her was the water. Zoey had been rolling around and was on her tummy and she looks up to Audrey and says, "please." (or peeaas is more accurate) she was asking her sister for the water to Audrey's right! This is awesome! They are asking each other for things!
After another book I tucked them in, although they were not expressing being tired.. I was tired and hungry! It was almost 9pm but they are still adjusting to the time change (they went to bed at 8:30 or so the night before). Zoey pulled me down to hug her and she HUGGED me so tightly. It is the best feeling in the world. (The other morning she also gave me Eskimo kisses which she also gave me at bedtime tonight.(I'm publishing this a day late) I am so elated by these sweet signs of affection.
I went downstairs and started cutting up an apple and some cheese all the while watching them with the Babycam. At one point Audrey was sitting on the floor reading while Zoey played with her hair.
Later they were hiding under pillows and hiding each other's lovies and giggling. Then they were tickling each other and giggling!
I heard some crying and I walked upstairs, cheese, knife and phone (with Babycam on) in hand and watched to see if I needed to intervene. Next thing I know Audrey is heels over head wedged between two pillows crying and trying to get herself back upright, unsuccessfully, by pushing up on the side of the bookshelf. It was sad and hysterical. I set everything down on the floor in the hall and ran in to help her out.
In the last week I've seen them turn a corner on friendship and playing together. I am so grateful to see them playing as sisters and friends.
