Bedtime Giggles
Yesterday these two little girls turned two. They are growing up into such caring, sweet and funny girls. Tonight at we were reading a story and something about hugging came up. Audrey wanted to hug Zoey. Zoey didn't want to be hugged. So she did the two year old appropriate thing and got off the bed, down onto the floor and started crying, loudly. It was more like wailing. Audrey is wants to love sister and got off the bed and sat in front of her and offered her a binkie... Zoey windshield wipered her arms to reject the comfort gift. Then Audrey got up and hid behind the shelf and started playing peekaboo with Zoey and I. We all begin laughing. Audrey then takes it a step further and hides behind the recliner and begins popping put over the top... Then she starts mixing it up and popping out the side. (this is something I had done months ago... Did she remember this or come up with it herself?) Zoey gets into it to and starts joining in on popping out on either side and over the recliner. We are all laughing hysterically at this point. The girls start playing chase around the chair. They are so gleeful. Eventually they begin to tire out and we read Little Sheep, Time to Sleep a couple times... I let them know I'm leaving and, Audrey knows, I'll pick her up one more time if she rests her head on my chest. Zoey wants in on snuggles too... So I pick her up and sit down. Normally Zoey does not like to share me, let alone overlap legs with Audrey but she obliges. We all lay down and Audrey is still giddy and is poking Zoey's binkie as she falls asleep. I begin humming and singing and Audrey is on her tummy with head on my chest. She rises up a little bit to rock her head back and forth to the song. They are both so happy.
These are the moments I hope I remember for ever.
