can i be a homeowner

or at least a townhouse owner?

a funny tale of last night, posted on rachel's myspace page after she told me now i had to be able to fix my own toilet...

funny you comment about fixing my toilet (which btw, in the past, i have kicked porcelin at!)

so last night, leif and i go back to my place and the bathroom floor is wet... the toilet, the usually culprit for leaking, is not, so i look under the bathroom sink, and it's wet. i clear out all the stuff under the sink to dry it off and get a better view. i hear the dripping and reach out to see if i need to tighten the hot water valve where it is leaking. i give it a little jiggle and the entire nozzle pops of and starts gushing hot water onto me! i grab a cup and yell for leif, "HELP!! HELP!!" "careful" I say, "our water gets super hot!" he tries to get the nozzle back on. i say, "it's not going back on, it broke off!" "where is your water turn off?" "uh, i don't know, but the water heater is next to the fridge!" he runs in to the kitchen and cuts off the water. now we are able to inspect it. we find out that the nipple, not the teet, that connects the pipe to the turning thing, i don't remember it's name, is completely corroded. leif guides me through what to buy at the hardware store in the morning. this morning i bought the appropriate items, including a pipe wrench, and begin to struggle with how a person gets enough leverage and turning space behind the wrench, not to mention dealing with getting the wrench to be tight enough to stay on it to get enough torque to turn the nipple piece so i can replace it. plumbers are amazing people. the fact that i am tiny and struggled, grunting and cringing to get this piece to turn. through much pain and strain it begins to turn! omg i think, i can be a homeowner! i can do it!!! so it comes off...but not just the piece i wanted but the piece behind it too. the piece behind the wall is now broken.

luckily my friends boyfriend is a plumber and he's coming over tonight after he brings her flowers and other valentine's day type things.

the end...for now
